West Harbours Arts Charitable Trust art week 2012

10 Apr 2014

The annual West Harbour art week is becoming a big focus for the Port Chalmers community.

The Otago Community Trust donated $1000 towards the annual event, set up to promote the arts to primary and pre-school age children. Each year the after-school workshops host a different contemporary artist, the 2012 event employing a visual artist who encouraged the children to use paper and manipulate forms. The week culminates in a parade through the main street of Port Chalmers, followed by a family day with music, performances and food. It's proven to be a great event for the area – those involved say its wonderful to be able to expose children to the different processes artists use, and its lovely to get families and the wider community all taking part at the end.
