Funding Stories

The Otago Community Trust has funded tracking devices that help provide peace of mind to families of people with Alzheimer’s disease in Dunedin.

The donation funded two tracking devices for the Alzheimer’s Society Otago’s Wandatrak Service. These devices can be used in emergencies to track people who are wearing tracking pendants.
The society is now fundraising to purchase more pendants.

Society Manager Julie Butler said the tracking system helps people who are active in the community, but who have the potential to become confused or lost while they were out. “Wandatrak, which is already being used in other areas of New Zealand, gives people quality of life, but also allows them to be found as quickly as possible by their families.”
