The Terrace School’s ICT

If it hadn’t been for the Otago Community Trust, Otago primary schools like The Terrace School in Alexandra would be struggling to keep up with its technology needs.

The Terrace School Principal Gary Anderson said two rounds of donations from the Community Trust helped the school to stay on top of their technology policy. “It’s daunting for a school like ours when the technology need is that big, so to get an organisation like the Trust stepping up to help in a comprehensive rather than piecemeal way was huge,” he said.

It has become a very quickly changing world, which is exciting, but which has meant transformational changes to the learning environment that we must keep up with. The trust helped us with the tools we now need to learn– pupils and teachers alike.

The funding initially gave the schools much-needed computers, but as time moved on that has extended into technology into the classroom with equipment like laptops, i-pads and digital recording and projection equipment.
