Funding Stories

Musical Theatre Oamaru’s September 2015 production of 'The Addams Family' was “right up there with the best” and the audience clearly loved it... “They laughed and cheered throughout the performance and left the theatre singing snatches of the songs.”

All aspects of the show were praised, the directing, the wardrobe, choreography, the set, lighting and sound. The actors’ performances were amazing, including the almost unrecognisable Waitaki Mayor in the role of Lurch the family’s zombie butler.

The Otago Community Trust was delighted to provide funding support to Musical Theatre Oamaru for this wonderful production.
Musical Theatre Oamaru was able to employ both a professional director and choreographer to work with our aspiring youngsters. The Addams Family featured a predominantly young cast which included 2 primary school aged boys and several secondary school students.

Volunteers did an amazing job, spending hours constructing an awesome set and costumes. The cast were virtually unrecognisable after our fantastic team of make-up artists had finished with them... add in some spectacular lighting effects, a live orchestra and all up it was a totally ghoulish success! The reviewer said it all: “Amateur theatre doesn’t get much better than this....”
