The Trust’s donation will help furnish the school with sporting and IT equipment including a data projector & trolley valued at more than $2500.

“The Community Trust recognises the value of modern educational facilities and we have supported similar projects at Kaitangata and Clutha Valley schools”, said Otago Community Trust Chief Executive Keith Ellwood.

Omakau School will also receive $7,500 to assist with the resurfacing of the school and community pool. The pool caters for the general public, local school children and visitors on the Rail Trail. Recent upgrades allow the pool to be open for an extended period from November until April enabling swimming instruction and water safety programmes to be taken over two terms.

The Community Trust donation will upgrade the pool coating to a modern spray-on fibreglass membrane which will extend the pool’s life span and make maintenance easier.
