Funding Stories

In February the Otago Community Trust provided a $27,000 donation to St John School in Ranfurly. This donation contributed to the stage two cost of their multi-purpose sports turf & equipment project. Stage two specifically concertrated on the purchase and installation of a fence around the turf and the various pieces of sports equipment that would be used on the turf – tennis net, netball hoops, basketball hoops and soccer goal.

Ryan Dowling, project coordinator explains that Ranfurly currently has only one multi purpose turf located at Maniototo Area School which creates a lot of training pressure as it can only handle one team at a time.  "St John’s has no sporting surface available to the children other than grass field, which in the winter is often wet and muddy. "The Otago Community Trust donation towards the fence was just "bloody brillant", in a small rural community, fundraising is often quite hard. To have the project now completed is just great for our kids and the community.

Well done to the St John School for working hard to build this great asset for their kids and wider community.
