Mini Jamboree in North Otago

A scout camp at Waianakarua in North Otago taught the St Patrick’s Scout Troop loads of new skills, but it was also lots of fun.

The Otago Community Trust donated $1000 towards a mini Scout Jamboree for 17 scouts from the Oamaru troop earlier in the year.  Their days were full, with activities that included traditional scout tasks such as tent pitching and setting up a camp fire, as well as crafts, and a trip to Dunedin where the boys and girls had fun doing paintball, 10-pin bowling and swimming at Moana Pool.  The scouts also had to meet the challenge of cooking all their own meals.
