Restoring Dunedin’s history

The Otago Community Trust is helping the NZ Institute of Surveyors Coastal Otago Branch restore the grave of Charles Kettle, Dunedin's founding surveyor.  Kettle had a pivotal part in the design of Dunedin’s streetscape, based closely on its sister city Edinburgh, Scotland, imposing “a bold design on a challenging landscape. His badly deteriorated grave in Dunedin’s Southern Cemetery is being repaired, and at the same time a plaque explaining his role in Dunedin’s history is being compiled.
