I became involved in community projects when my children were young, motivated “to make the world a better place where my kids, and others, could enjoy the simple things in life”.
I got involved in the upgrade of the Mosgiel Playground and through this process met many people, learnt a lot about the philanthropic sector and felt great satisfaction in achieving the end goal. A three year stint on the Mosgiel Taieri Community Board cemented that desire to help build a strong local community through engagement and connection with individuals, businesses and organisations through Local Government processes. At the Otago Community Trust I am able to utilise my skills to support the team in their work. It is very satisfying to see the Trust at work, with good strong leadership and direction, supporting organisations to reach their goals, especially knowing how much time and energy goes in to each project (large or small). I appreciate the contribution these organisations make to the communities of Otago.
