Oamaru based Kevin Malcolm is Otago born and bred. Kevin was raised is Port Chalmers and then lived in Central and South Otago before making North Otago his home since 1981. Kevin and his wife Jane have successfully sent four top children out into the world as hard working adults.
Kevin has always deemed it critical that if you want your community to succeed you need to play your part in making that happen. To this end he has enjoyed being part of many fundraising ventures, be it for an extension to a rugby club, a new squash court, sending school groups on a North Island adventure, to finding funds for sporting equipment.
Kevin has had 12 plus years on Primary and Secondary Boards of Trustees including six as Chair at Waitaki Girls High School. He has also served a term as Waitaki District Councillor and Chairman of the Oamaru Victorian Heritage Committee and recently qualified as a Marriage Celebrant.
Kevin has been in all aspects rugby for many years as a player, coach, referee and administration to ensure that young people were given the opportunity to participate in a sport and feel part of their community.
Kevin currently represents the Moeraki constituency as a councillor for the Otago Regional Council.
Kevin is a second-generation trustee on the Otago Community Trust, with his father Bruce Malcolm also a trustee from 1988 to 1991.
