Barbara Bridger

Chief Executive

Barbara has been the Trust’s Chief Executive since 2014. A Chartered Accountant by background Barbara spent almost 10 years working in the Banking and Financial Services sector both in New Zealand and Overseas before returning to Dunedin in the mid-1990’s to raise her family.


From 1996 until 2013 Barbara was the Practice Manager at Dunedin’s Mornington Health Centre, one of New Zealand’s largest medical centres. Whilst there she established the Country’s first stand-alone Primary Health Organisation (PHO) and she was its Chief Executive for 8 years until its disestablishment in 2008. Whilst working in the medical field Barbara developed a strong sense of community, recognising the importance of accessible medical services to all members of our community.

Barbara has also been involved in a number of not for profit organisations and is currently a Council member on the Neurological Foundation of New Zealand and Trustee on the Cosy Homes Trust. Barbara has a keen interest in her local community and in particular in issues affecting young people and as the Trust’s Chief Executive utilises her business and professional skills for the good of the community. Barbara is married to Ken Lister and they have three adult children in their 20’s. In her spare time Barbara enjoys entertaining, gardening, travelling and keeping fit and in the weekends during winter can be found on the ski slopes in Central Otago
