REGIONAL SPORTS

If a regional sports body wants to apply for sport development funding you need to ring the office to discuss the project. Details are listed below.

Primary Technology

The Community Trust has a history of supporting information and communication technology (ICT) in school classrooms in Otago as well as advocating for, and facilitating, faster broadband access for secondary schools in rural Otago.

In 1997 the Trust committed $1.6 million to all primary schools across Otago over three years. The Trust commissioned the University of Otago to evaluate the project in 2001 and found teachers and principals reported that the increased use of ICT had a number of positive effects on teaching and student participation with technology.

In 2009, the Trust decided to increase its support for ICT in primary schools until 2013 as a means of improving the learning outcomes of young people.

It is an application based process with schools able to spread applications over one or more years within a five year period. For approved applications the Trust will match dollar for dollar funds contributed by the school up to a specific level (with additional allowances for decile 1-3 schools and schools with small rolls).

To check if your school is eligible please contact the staff at the Trust Office.
