Barbara Bridger

Chief Executive

Barbara has been the Trust’s Chief Executive since 2014. Barbara is a Chartered Accountant by background and spent almost 10 years working in the Banking and Financial Services sector both in New Zealand and Overseas before returning to Dunedin in the mid 1990’s to start a family.

From 1996 until 2013 Barbara was the Practice Manager at Dunedin’s Mornington Health Centre, one of New Zealand’s largest medical centres.  Whilst there she established the Country’s first stand alone Primary Health Organisation (PHO) and she was its Chief Executive for 8 years until its disestablishment in 2008.  Whilst working in the medical field Barbara developed a keen sense of community, focusing her attentions on ensuring that all members of the community had access to medical services they required. Barbara has also been involved in a number of not for profit organisations as a volunteer including Kiwi Swim Club and her children's schools. As the Trust’s Chief Executive Barbara is able to use her business and professional skills for the good of the community.  She has a keen interest in her local community and in particular in issues affecting young people. Barbara is married to Ken Lister and they have a daughter who is a lawyer practising in Dunedin and a son and daughter studying at Otago University.  In her spare time Barbara enjoys entertaining, gardening, travel and keeping fit and in the weekends during winter can be found on the ski slopes in Central Otago.
